Silver Lake Sand Dunes Opening Day (Poker Chip Run)

It's here! It's finally here! The Opening Day of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes! After a long, cold, and weird snowy winter, it's time to get our Jeeps out and play in the sand again!

We will meet up at Westgate Bowling on Alpine, and work our way to the dunes, with a few stops along the way. See below for locations.

If you want to also participate in the poker chip event, the cost is only $5 per person.  The prize is determined by how many participate. The poker chip run is very simple and fun. You don't need to know anything about Poker to have to play this. We only use poker chips to draw for 1 of 3 colors. Details to be given at driver's meeting.

The event is open to everyone in the public, but MEMBERS will receive a raffle ticket for the Annual Club Picnic.  So please make sure you register and get checked-in with the Trail Leader to receive your ticket.

Draw #1: Westgate Bowl (Meetup Location)

Draw #5 (After the DNR Welcome Center to air down, flag up, and stickers on): Base of Test Hill inside the Dunes (43.691412, -86.503102)

DNR stickers (and a dune flag) are required for the dunes, so get yours ordered if you haven't already. We will be airing down at the Welcome Center prior to entering the dunes, which at that time you could purchase your stickers if you haven't already, but the lines can get really long. So please try to have your stickers ahead of time if at all possible to keep from holding up the group.

This is the opening weekend for the dunes, so let's get out there and have some fun! The plan is once we arrive at the dunes everyone is free to do whatever they'd like. We don't have an agenda once we get to the dunes other than drawing for the Poker Chip winner once we get on the sand. After you're in the dunes, you can stay as long as you'd like (during their park hours). We will rip around the dunes for a few hours before heading back home to Grand Rapids in the afternoon.

Driver's Meeting: 7:00 AM, and leaving promptly at 7:15 AM. (Please arrive early.)

GMRS Radios are not required, but very highly recommended.

Important Club Member Notice: GRJC tickets will be used for member check-in. One ticket is required per person. Each club member that wishes to receive club credit for attendance to this event, even if part of a larger party attending, must register for their own separate ticket so that they can be checked-in and their attendance linked to their personal membership account.
